About Sanae Sugimoto
Sanae Sugimoto was born in Tottori Prefecture, Japan in 1975. After studying oil painting in Kyoto, Sugimoto relocated to Fukuoka in southern Japan, where she is still based now. Her works are inspired by classical works of English literature and are defined by her use of traditional Japanese ink, known as “sumi.”
